Bringing Japan's latest to Singapore.

I recently attended BEAUTY EXPO in Japan. As a hair stylist based in Singapore, I make a point of visiting events like this to stay connected with what's happening at the forefront of the Japanese beauty industry — and to bring that knowledge back to my clients and fellow stylists here.

The scale was something else.

Walking into the venue, I was genuinely blown away. Hair, nails, lashes, marketing, fragrance — every corner of the beauty world under one roof. The number of exhibitors and visitors far exceeded anything I had imagined.

Many of the brands I carry at EVERYTHING SHAMPOO were exhibiting, which gave me the chance to connect with them directly. That kind of face-to-face conversation always means a lot.

As I was walking through the venue, I ran into SIBA-san at the booth of KINUJO — the Japanese dryer and iron brand now expanding across Asia.

I had a feeling he might be there. Still made me happy when it happened.

SIBA-san runs a hair salon in Kobe, and beyond that, he's involved in app development and various ventures that go well beyond the beauty industry. We first met when he visited Singapore to explore business opportunities there, shared a meal, and have stayed in touch ever since.

Those kinds of unexpected reunions are one of the best parts of showing up to events like this.
